Doctor Roessler on Gum Reshaping or Gummy Smile Treatment
We do offer gummy smile treatment here at our office. For what we can treat here for gummy smiles is that a lot of times, the gums are actually overgrown over the teeth, and the tooth tends to look really short. So, what we can do here, I do have a soft tissue laser here that I can numb up the gums and actually reshape the gums to remove that excessive gum tissue that’s covering the tooth to reveal the natural tooth and the natural length of the tooth that’s underneath.
For those patients that it’s more than just having excessive tissue that’s covering the tooth, I can refer you to the specialist, it’s called a periodontist, who can look and see if they can actually remove some of that gum tissue and raising it up so that you don’t show excessive gum tissue. I’ve had several patients that have had this work done with the periodontist, and what the satisfaction that they have by actually showing more tooth and reliving some of that gummy smile. They’re very pleased with the results. If you have that here, we can talk about what’s the cause of the gummy smile and hopefully get that treated for you.
